His erotic works thus become a critique of the devastating power of consumerism and marketing on a society, already incapable of distinguishing between desire and necessity, driven to spiritual bankruptcy by the distorting effects of religious repression on the one hand, and soul-destroying mercantilism on the other.
In use of colour (muted reds ands yellows on blue and black backgrounds) one can perceive a more playful and clearer frame of mind, but no less caustic than in his previous works.
